Energy and infrastructure resilience increasingly important for Cuban investment projects
Status: ONGOING
- What changed
- Continuing instability in Cuba's electricity system and related pressure on water, refrigeration, communications and transport are increasingly important factors when evaluating property and business investments.
- Who it affects
- Property buyers · Hotels and accommodation · Restaurants · Retail · Businesses · Investors · Project developers
- What it means in practice
- Business and property projects should increasingly evaluate independent or backup infrastructure as part of the initial investment. Relevant due-diligence considerations include electricity reliability, solar installations, battery backup, generators where applicable, water storage, water pumping, building water systems, internet connectivity, refrigeration and cooling requirements, and operating resilience for rental and hospitality properties.
- CPS note
- Infrastructure resilience should increasingly be considered during technical due diligence, particularly for hospitality businesses, rental properties and commercial projects.
